How to Filter Social Media Content Wisely - The vast array of content on various social media platforms presents a wide range of information, from technology to finance to sports, and so on. Every second, minute, and hour we access social media, we're confronted with a variety of unique and engaging content. Within a day, we sometimes forget what we've just consumed.

For example, just one social media platform can offer content in a variety of media formats, from photos to short videos, engaging users of all genders and ages.

This massive data flood on social media is unstoppable, considering that everyone today uses smartphones, even more, to support their daily lives, uploading whatever content they desire at any time.

Furthermore, wireless network access, such as Wi-Fi, is now readily available. This contrasts sharply with the past, when only a handful of Wi-Fi hotspots were available for surfing the internet, and access speeds were relatively slow. Furthermore, data packages offered by operators are now competitively priced and offer substantial data packages. Users can choose according to their needs how much total quota is needed in a certain time period.

The abundance of content on social media today can be a benefit, but on the other hand, it can backfire and pose a threat to all social media users. On the positive side, social media content allows us to quickly access data and information, unlike in the past, when we had to consult various sources from mass media outlets like newspapers, magazines, tabloids, and so on.

However, today, we can easily access data and information in seconds; simply by typing in keywords, we can instantly access the information we need. With this abundance of data and information available, we should be more discerning in selecting and selecting what is worthy of being used as a valid and reliable reference, rather than relying solely on raw, unverified data and information.

In this article, I will share how to filter content on social media wisely to maintain a healthy social media experience.

1. Block content on social media that doesn't align with your preferences.

Every time we access social media, we're faced with a variety of content. As we scroll, we often encounter content that doesn't align with our preferences. The right step is to hit the dislike button to prevent similar content from appearing in our social media algorithms. This allows us to enjoy content that aligns with our preferences and is certainly useful and beneficial for our self-development over time.

2. Limit the duration of social media use.

When we access social media, we sometimes get carried away with the time we spend, intending to spend 5 minutes on social media, but unexpectedly, an hour has passed before we realize it. This is a common experience for many users; perhaps some of you readers have been through this phase at least once.

To prevent this doom scrolling habit, we can take a daily break from using social media. For example, after work, spend a few minutes on social media during your free time.

This is quite sufficient, considering we also need entertainment after a tiring day of activities. And don't let it drag on for hours until late at night, which can be detrimental to yourself due to lack of rest and sleep.

3. Limit the number of social media installations on your smartphone

There are many types of social media platforms today, and all of them are very attractive to install, for example, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc. With so many social media platforms, the average person often wants to install them all, whether out of curiosity or to enjoy the superior features each platform offers.

Upon closer examination, using too many social media platforms on a single device can be overwhelming for the user. Therefore, it's best to choose just one or two social media platforms to install on your smartphone. This way, we can focus more on finding data and information that best suits our needs.

That's all we can offer to help us feel safer and more comfortable using social media, regardless of the platform. We hope this is helpful and beneficial for all readers.
